During June and July 2025, we invited Croydon residents to submit a word that captured what looking through the gas holders meant to them.

It might be a memory from when they were still standing, or something from a person’s imagination if they never saw them. Words could be abstract, descriptive, or literal, using our inspiration gallery to help.

The artwork is now in progress and we anticipate it will be installed by the end of 2025.
